Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Belchertown department adds to it.

Fees and payment

  • Check or Money Order - $100.00 fee - payable to Town of Belchertown
  • 15-18 year olds $25.00 fee
  • Retired law enforcement officers $25.00 fee

Processing time

  • Once the application is processed, the applicant will receive a receipt in the mail.
  • A new card will be mailed out in approximately 1 to 2 months.

Renewals

  • Submit renewal application 6 to 8 weeks prior to expiration date.
  • Renewable every 6 years
  • No charge for renewal if 70 years or older
