Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Granby department adds to it.

How to apply

  • Once this is completed the application and the appropriate fee must be dropped off or mailed to the Public Safety Complex.

What to bring

  • New applicants will also be required to provide a copy of the appropriate training certificate as well.

Fees and payment

  • Cost is $100, payable ONLY by check or money order to the Town of Granby

Fingerprints and interview

  • New applicants also must be fingerprinted and interviewed.
  • If an officer is available at the time the application is dropped off, they will do it at that time.
  • If no officer is available someone will contact you to come in and be fingerprinted and interviewed.

Processing time

  • Permit delivered to place of residence

Renewals

  • If this is a renewal please include a copy of your current LTC / FID and a copy of your Massachusetts Driver’s License with the application.
  • Please renew your pistol permit one month before expiration.
