Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Whately department adds to it.

Appointments and hours

  • First time applicants must make an appointment for an interview with the Chief of Police in order to submit your application.

Fees and payment

  • Payments can be made on-line through Unipay by clicking the Pay Online link below.
  • Remember to include the $100 application fee.

Fingerprints and interview

  • For first time applicants, you will still need to come into the station to get fingerprinted.
  • Police Department will take photographs and fingerprints.

Renewals

  • Completed renewal applications can be dropped off at the police station at any time or can be mailed.
