Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Winthrop department adds to it.

How to apply

  • Application processing for new applicants and renewal firearms licenses are conducted ON THE SECOND AND FOURTH SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH. WRITTEN APPLICATIONS MAY BE MAILED IN OR DROPPED OFF AT THE SEVICE DESK OF THE WINTHROP POLICE STATION ONLY IF PAYMENT IS ALSO PROVIDED.

Appointments and hours

  • 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M at the Winthrop Police Department.

Fees and payment

  • A check or money order shall be made payable to the “Town of Winthrop”.
  • NO CASH is accepted.
