Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Ludlow department adds to it.

How to apply

  • At that time you will receive a receipt of your application having been received and processed.

Appointments and hours

  • You must make an appointment in order to submit both renewal and firearms license applications.
  • Please call the Records Department at 413-583-8305 ext. 2217 or 2218 to answer any questions you may have and to schedule your appointment.

What to bring

  • Positive identification with proof of residency.
  • Acopy of the Certification Form from a completed Basic Firearms Safety Course certified by the Massachusetts State Police which is specified as valid for License to Carry.

Fees and payment

  • Application fee of $100.00 (money order or bank check) NO personal checks accepted.
  • the amount of $100.00 made payable to “The Town of Ludlow”.

Fingerprints and interview

  • When you arrive at the Ludlow Police Department for your appointment, you will be interviewed, fingerprinted, and photographed.
  • Fingerprints and photographs will be taken by the Ludlow Police Department.

Renewals

  • There is no fee for persons over 70 for an LTC/FID renewal.
  • At this time there is no charge for renewing an FID Class D license.
