Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Peabody department adds to it.

How to apply

  • Information and application packets are available in the lobby of the police station or via the attachment link above.
  • Completed applications must be deposited in the Firearms Licensing drop box located in the lobby of the police station.

Appointments and hours

  • You will be directly contacted to schedule an appointment to complete the licensing process.

What to bring

  • Provide a copy of the Certificate with the Completed Application.
  • DO NOT PROVIDE THE ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE
  • All Applicants must provide 2 Proofs of Residency

Fees and payment

  • NEW APPLICANTS- do NOT include payment.
  • Bring the check at the time of appointment
  • Payment accepted for Firearm Licenses shall be made by Money Order or Personal Check – payable to the City of Peabody.

Renewals

  • RENEWALS- Include payment with completed application and 2 proofs of residency
