Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Salisbury department adds to it.

How to apply

  • Both new and renewal applications shall be submitted online through the Firearms Records Bureau by creating an account to access the Firearms Licensing Portal.

Appointments and hours

  • Following the online submission, the firearms licensing officer will contact you to make an appointment to complete the process.

Fees and payment

  • The non-refundable $100.00 application fee shall be submitted at the time of your scheduled appointment.
  • Check or money order only made payable to: Town of Salisbury.

Fingerprints and interview

  • The purpose of the appointment is to review the application, fingerprints (New applicants only), collect any additional documents that are required, and receive the processing fee.

Processing time

  • Please be patient for this correspondence as applications are processed in the order in which received.

Renewals

  • The fee is waived for renewal applicants over the age of the 70.
