Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Cheshire department adds to it.
How to apply
- Once completed, you can either mail or drop off at the Cheshire Police Department, the completed application along with cash, a bank check, or a money order (made out to the "Town of Cheshire").
Appointments and hours
- FID/LTCs are done in person every Tuesday evening from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
Fees and payment
- You will still be required to mail or drop off your required payment (see "fee schedule" below).
Fingerprints and interview
- Your RMV photograph will be utilized for your LTC/FID card photo.
