Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Millis department adds to it.

Appointments and hours

Please be advised that if an LTC application is submitted via the newly developed MIRCS portal, you must additionally email one of the members of the LTC unit to schedule a formal meeting.
The email should include the LTC number, expiration date, email, phone number, issuing department, and the best time available for an appointment.
Appointments can take up to 2-4 weeks to be scheduled.

What to bring

The application found on the Mass Gov. website was filled out completely.
An approved Basic Firearms Safety course certificate.
(2) Letters of reference, which cannot be from a family member, The letter must state that you are a qualified candidate for a firearms license.

Fees and payment

Please come to the Police station at 1003 Main St. with a check for $100 made out to the Town of Millis.
