Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Weymouth department adds to it.

Appointments and hours

  • All new LTC and FID applicants must schedule an appointment for an interview and fingerprints.

Fees and payment

  • Personal checks, cash, and credit or debit cards are not accepted.
  • Payment must be made by bank check or money order payable to the Town of Weymouth.

Processing time

  • After an application has been approved, please allow approximately 8 to 12 weeks for the state to produce and deliver the physical LTC or FID card.

Renewals

  • Renewal applicants do not need an appointment.
