Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Upton department adds to it.
Appointments and hours

- Firearms appointments are scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8:30 am to 3:00 pm by appointment.
- For new licenses, after your completed application is submitted, you will be contacted for an appointment for a review of your application, fingerprints and photographs.
