Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Hudson department adds to it.

How to apply

  • The Massachusetts Firearms Records Bureau licensing portal is now the primary method of applying for a NEW or RENEWAL license.
  • THE APPLICATION CAN BE DROPPED OFF OR MAILED TO: HUDSON POLICE DEPARTMENT, ATT: FIREARMS LICENSING, 911 MUNICIPAL DRIVE, HUDSON, MA 01749.

  • You will NOT receive a call to setup an appointment.

What to bring

  • TWO (2) VALID PROOFS OF HUDSON RESIDENCY (TAX BILL, UTILITY BILL, MV REGISTRATION, ETC.)

Fees and payment

  • If you are mailing in your application or dropping off, you may pay by check or Money Order ONLY (No Cash), made out to “Town of Hudson”.
  • The application fee shall be paid by bank check, postal money order, or personal check and made payable to: “Town of Hudson”.
  • The fee must be brought to the interview for NEW applicants.

Fingerprints and interview

  • One (1) set of fingerprints are required for all first time applicants (to be completed by the licensing official).

Processing time

  • Once the application is received, the Firearms Licensing Officer will conduct a local and national criminal records background check.

Renewals

  • FOR ALL RENEWALS, PLEASE INCLUDE A CHECK ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION MADE OUT TO ‘TOWN OF HUDSON’.
  • RENEWALS AT THIS TIME DO NOT REQUIRE AN INTERVIEW.
  • For renewals, you will receive a receipt in the mail within 2 weeks after your application is received by this department.
