Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Maynard department adds to it.

Appointments and hours

  • WALK-INS WITHOUT A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WILL NOT BE PROCESSED
  • Please email one of the officers listed below in advance to schedule an appointment.

What to bring

  • For new applicants for an LTC, a certificate of completion of an approved Safety Course should be attached to your application along with proof of ID.
  • If requesting a new Class A license, a letter stating the reason for requesting the license must accompany the application.
  • Photographs are not required.

Fees and payment

  • At the time of your appointment, make sure to bring payment.
  • Application fee: $100.00 for License to Carry Firearms or F.I.D. card.
  • Fees are CASH ONLY and non-refundable.

Processing time

  • The Police Department will notify you when your license is available for pickup.
  • Licenses are typically ready within approximately 40 to 60 days.
  • After notification, you may pick up your license at the Police Station during normal business hours.
