Every town follows the same state process, in which you apply at your local department online through the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal or on paper, and the fee for most applicants is $100. The sections below show what the Weston department adds to it.

How to apply

  • Do not leave any paperwork at the Weston Police station.

  • The Licensing Officer schedules all appointments via an online scheduling software link on the Weston Police Department home page

What to bring

  • Please bring a copy of a utility bill (gas, electric, cable etc.) in your name.
  • Cell phone, water or tax bills will not be accepted.
  • New applicants must provide a Firearm Safety or Hunting Safety Course certificate issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Fees and payment

  • The cost is $100 with checks made out to the Town of Weston.

Fingerprints and interview

  • On the day / time of your appointment, the applicant will be photographed and fingerprinted.

Processing time

  • This can take up to eight weeks.

Renewals

  • Please fill out the paper work and submit with the renewal fee of $100 (no fee for those over 70).
  • Please bring your expired LTC to the appointment.
